Media Release Notice

JHM Homes of Honor uses photos, videos, stories, testimonials, project updates, volunteer highlights, sponsor recognition, and community impact content to communicate our mission, document restoration work, honor service, recognize community support, and share the positive impact of home-centered restoration projects.

This Media Release Notice explains how media content may be requested, collected, used, shared, and protected by JHM Homes of Honor.

By participating in a JHM Homes of Honor project, event, volunteer activity, sponsorship activity, interview, testimonial, photo session, video recording, or media-related opportunity, you acknowledge and understand the following.

1. Purpose of Media Use

JHM Homes of Honor may use approved media to:

​

• Share mission updates

• Highlight home restoration projects

• Document before-and-after project progress

• Recognize volunteers, sponsors, donors, contractors, vendors, and community partners

• Share impact stories

• Promote community involvement

• Support fundraising and donor communication

• Create newsletters, blog posts, reports, website updates, flyers, presentations, and social media content

• Build public trust through transparent and respectful storytelling

• Preserve organizational records and project documentation

Media is intended to support the mission of JHM Homes of Honor and should always be used in a respectful, dignified, and truthful manner.

2. Types of Media That May Be Used

Media may include, but is not limited to:

• Photographs

• Videos

• Audio recordings

• Written testimonials

• Interviews

• Quotes

• Project summaries

• Before-and-after images

• Volunteer highlights

• Sponsor highlights

• Contractor/vendor participation images

• Event photos

• Group photos

• Home or property images

• General neighborhood or community images

• Approved names, titles, or organization names

• Written stories or impact statements

3. Where Media May Be Shared

Approved media may be used in JHM Homes of Honor materials, including but not limited to:

• Website pages

• Blog posts

• Newsletters

• Email updates

• Social media pages

• Donation pages

• Sponsorship materials

• Volunteer recruitment materials

• Contractor/vendor partner materials

• Printed flyers or brochures

• Presentations

• Reports

• Grant or funding materials

• Community outreach materials

• Event displays

• Internal training or documentation

• Public relations or media outreach, when approved

4. Consent Is Required for Identifiable Personal Stories

JHM Homes of Honor aims to obtain appropriate permission before publicly sharing personally identifying media, recipient stories, private household details, identifiable home images, testimonials, or sensitive personal information.

Personally identifying media may include:

​

• A person’s face

• Full name

• Address or recognizable home location

• Personal hardship details

• Household story

• Health-related or accessibility-related information

• Family details

• Financial or housing-related circumstances

• Testimonial connected to a specific person or property

• Before-and-after images that identify a home or household

JHM Homes of Honor will make reasonable efforts to avoid publishing identifying information without permission.

5. Recipient Privacy and Dignity

​

JHM Homes of Honor serves people with dignity, honor, and respect.

​

Recipients, applicants, homeowners, and families should never be treated as publicity opportunities, charity cases, or examples of hardship for public attention.

​

Media should protect dignity and should not shame, embarrass, exploit, stereotype, or expose private circumstances.

​

JHM Homes of Honor may choose to share project impact in a general or non-identifying way when privacy is needed.

​

6. Before-and-After Photos

​

Before-and-after photos may be used to show project progress, home restoration, safety improvements, accessibility modifications, critical repairs, and community impact.

​

Before-and-after photos should be reviewed before publication to avoid exposing:

​

• Home addresses

• License plates

• Mail, documents, or personal records

• Children’s faces without proper permission

• Private household items

• Security features

• Medical equipment or sensitive personal details

• Identifying information the recipient does not want shared

​

JHM Homes of Honor may crop, blur, edit, or withhold photos to protect privacy and dignity.

​

7. Volunteers, Contractors, Sponsors, and Partners

​

Volunteers, contractors, vendors, sponsors, donors, churches, businesses, and community partners may appear in JHM Homes of Honor media when participating in approved activities.

​

JHM Homes of Honor may use approved media to recognize service, partnership, sponsorship, or community participation.

​

However, appearing in media does not create employment, endorsement, official partnership status, exclusive vendor status, sponsorship rights, advertising rights, or authority to speak for JHM Homes of Honor.

​

8. Children and Minors

​

JHM Homes of Honor will make reasonable efforts to obtain parent or guardian permission before using identifiable images, video, names, testimonials, or stories involving minors.

​

Minors should not be photographed, recorded, interviewed, tagged, identified, or publicly featured without appropriate permission.

​

For group events where minors may be present, JHM Homes of Honor may use general crowd or activity photos when appropriate, but identifiable minor-focused content should be handled carefully and with consent.

9. No Unauthorized Photos or Videos by Volunteers or Visitors

​

Volunteers, contractors, vendors, sponsors, donors, visitors, and community members may not take, post, record, livestream, publish, or share photos, videos, interviews, testimonials, home images, recipient stories, private property details, or before-and-after content from JHM Homes of Honor projects without authorization.

​

This includes posting on:

​

• Personal social media pages

• Business pages

• Websites

• Contractor portfolios

• Google Business profiles

• Flyers

• Fundraising pages

• Ads

• Newsletters

• Public presentations

• Media outlets

​

Unauthorized media use may result in removal from a project, denial of future participation, termination of vendor/contractor consideration, or other appropriate action.

​

10. Use of JHM Homes of Honor Name, Logo, and Branding

The JHM Homes of Honor name, logo, branding, photos, project details, recipient stories, donor information, sponsor information, and organizational content may not be used without written permission.

​

No person or organization may imply endorsement, partnership, sponsorship, approval, employment, contractor status, or official representation without authorization from JHM Homes of Honor.

​

11. Editing and Presentation

​

JHM Homes of Honor may edit, crop, resize, caption, format, or combine approved media for mission-related use.

​

Edits should not intentionally misrepresent a person, project, statement, result, donation, sponsorship, repair, or organizational activity.

​

JHM Homes of Honor may use general captions, project summaries, and mission language to explain the context of approved media.

​

12. No Payment for Media Use

​

Unless otherwise agreed in writing, individuals who appear in approved media or provide testimonials, quotes, stories, images, videos, or interviews are not entitled to payment, royalties, compensation, licensing fees, or future approval over each use.

​

Participation in media is voluntary unless a separate written agreement states otherwise.

​

13. Right to Decline Media Participation

​

Recipients, applicants, volunteers, contractors, vendors, sponsors, donors, partners, and community members may decline to participate in public media.

​

Declining media participation should not automatically prevent a person from requesting support, volunteering, donating, or participating unless media participation is an essential part of a specific public event, sponsorship, campaign, or project requirement that has been clearly explained.

​

JHM Homes of Honor may still maintain internal project documentation, including photos or notes needed for safety, records, funding, or accountability, even when public media permission is declined.

​

14. Revoking or Limiting Permission

​

A person who has given media permission may contact JHM Homes of Honor to request that future public use be stopped or limited.

​

JHM Homes of Honor will make reasonable efforts to honor revocation requests for future use where practical.

​

However, revocation may not be able to remove media that has already been:

​

• Printed

• Published

• Shared by third parties

• Archived

• Included in reports already submitted

• Posted and reshared by others

• Used in completed campaigns

• Stored for legitimate organizational records

• Required for legal, financial, safety, grant, donor, or compliance documentation

Requests should clearly identify the media involved and the concern.
